ONE DESIGN RACING AT IT'S BEST - THE LASER IS ONE OF THE LARGEST ONE DESIGN SAILING CLASSES IN THE WORLD
History - Over 30 Years of Laser Racing
For more than 30 years, Cedar Point Yacht Club has been a hot bed of competitive Laser racing in New England, featuring top national, regional and local talent, from juniors to grand masters. Many CPYC fleet members regularly compete at major regional, national and international regattas, while others are actively involved in coaching local junior and high school sailing programs. But one thing they all share is love of the Laser class and a desire to help others discover the pleasure and excitement of racing these exciting boats.
Laser Fleet at Cedar Point
The CPYC Laser Frostbite Series takes place on weekends in the Fall and Spring, with additional racing and training events held during the Summer months. All sailors are welcome to participate in the Laser Frostbite fleet and many people find that participation in the Laser series invariably leads to CPYC membership, enabling them to enjoy the many other benefits of the Club and its outstanding facilities.
Daily prizes are awarded for the top finishers in Standards and Radials, with overall prizes awarded at the conclusion of each series. De-briefs are also held at the conclusion of the day's racing, with top performers disclosing their race-winning secrets free of charge.
For those who don’t own a Laser but are interested in learning if it might be the boat for them, CPYC has club boats available for charter.
So grab your sailing gear and come out and sail with the CPYC Laser fleet!
