| CPYC Flying Scot Fleet awarded "Fleet of the Year" - Posted on Friday, July 25, 2008 Cedar Point’s Fleet 177 won the Flying Scot Fleet of the year. This award is given out the Flying Scot fleet that has the most active racers on the national level and active participation in regattas and events outside your home club while also supporting your home club. Considered in awarding this award is hosting sanctioned events such as the "Regional Districts" which we did in 2006 along with hosting the "Wife Husband Nationals" last year along with our yearly Early Bird Regatta. Another factor is fleet members participating in the association it self as District Governor, John Cooke from 2004-2007 and Melanie Dunham who is the current Greater New York District Governor. Dave Jacobsen as Past President of the Flying Scot Association and Hank Sykes who just retired as National Secretary and Treasurer of the class. This is a great honor for our fleet members who have worked so hard to make Cedar Point’s Scot fleet a nationally recognized fleet.
The Trophy will be hung in the club house for the next year.

| Mid Season Report by John Cooke - Posted on Friday, July 18, 2008 So far the Flying Scot class as had a good year of sailing. As of July 13th we had 17 races scored with another weekend of racing this weekend we should be up to 20 races by the mid way point. Fleet members have been placing well in regional and local regatta’s showing that the Cedar Point Scot fleet is a though fleet to beat.
This past weekend we helped out both on and off the water with the Special Olympics. We had seven boats on the water and a great time was had by all for a great event. We look forward to next year event and maybe getting 10 boats on the line! We have four boats heading down to the Nationals at Toms River YC in NJ this Sunday. Melanie Dunham, Josh Goldman, Hank Sykes, and John Cooke. We’ll keep you posted on the out come. The fleet has also just received a donated Scot which will become our second fleet boat. This one is in pretty good shape and looks to be race ready. We plan on having this boat ready to race in a week or so. Anyone interested in trying out a Scot or maybe racing with us, please let Scot fleet captain Mark Riefenhauser know.
