Once again we are saddened by the passing of one of our long-time members, Mike Clark, who passed away on Tuesday after a short illness. He is survived by his wife Sharon, his two sons (Larry and Allen) and two grandchildren.
Mike was an avid sailor, joining the Club in 1997 and racing his C&C 35 "Seacur" before acquiring his X-Yachts X442 "Expeditious" in 2001. Mike raced frequently with his sons on Wednesdays and Sundays. Mike also served frequently as a member of Race Committee and was a member of the Basin Dredging and Bulkhead Committees. More significantly, from 2001 until 2009, Mike was instrumental in professionally and creatively organizing the Club's Basin Space Allocations.
The Commodore has ordered that Flags will fly at half mast at CPYC over the weekend of July 17-18 in recognition of Mike's passing and his many contributions over the years as a tireless Volunteer.

| CPYC Hosts Etchells 2010 Long Island Sound Championship Regatta - Posted on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 CPYC hosted its first ever Etchells Regatta. The regatta was won in convincing fashion by Steve Girling sailing USA 1200, Lionheart. Girling sailed with Ched Proctor and Dave Lutian over the weekend of June 19/20. Girling and team had 5 results in the top 4 in this 5 race no discard regatta. Girling's consistency was the result of great boat speed and smart, conservative tactics that produced a 2,4,3,3 on the Saturday and a 4 in the only race on Sunday to lead the field by 2 points over Jay Mills and 7 points over Ethan Doyle.
Event Chairman and Regatta winner, Steve Girling had this to say about the event, "In the opinion of all competitors it was a resounding success both on and off the water. I heard many compliments about the club, it's staff and the welcome that our visitors received. I know that the hospitality was totally appreciated. Many competitors recalled visiting the club in prior years to sail in other classes and were happy to return for a taste of our special atmosphere."
Vice Commodore John McArthur managed the racing activities with a team of CPYC volunteers and staff. All accounts were positive for a tricky weekend of sailing on Long Island Sound. read more ...

| The 2010 Vanguard 15 New England Championships - Posted on Saturday, June 19, 2010The 2010 Vanguard 15 New England Championships were hosted by Larchmont in light-air on June 12-13. The Larchmont RC did a great job getting off 12 good races Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. James Ewing from CPYC sailed with his old college crew Karl Seibert, who drove down from Boston for the weekend. Their game plan, according to James, in the southerly Saturday and easterly Sunday was simply to have good starts, maintain boat speed and lanes, and avoid major mistakes. Aside from a single OCS (which they sailed back to a 9, but remained their throw-out), they managed to sail cleanly and with speed. James commented their downwind speed was particularly good – “the fleet at CPYC has pushed us to sail lower and faster in light air, and it really helped in this fleet”. When they came off the water Sunday: they knew 4 boats were in contention, and they knew that their mostly top 5s would keep them in the hunt. In the end, James and Karl were just a single point off the pace. It was a very fun weekend, Larchmont were great hosts, and we look forward to hosting them at CPYC again soon!
Congratulations to James Ewing for placing 2nd in the 2010 Vanguard 15 New England Championship. For pictures click HERE James is in photos 11, 44, 46, 131, and 194. Results are posted HERE.

Each year a new class of boats seems to take over with the most entries from the farthest locations.
This year is no different...with the J80s and competitors hailing from around the country attending, on their way up the Northeast Coast throughout the summer, leading up to the J80 World Championships in Newport Rhode, Island, this Fall.
Members and guest are invited to take a spin out to the large race course and get a look at some tight action. Paul Iffland, PRO, promises non stop action from 11am on both days. He will be accompanied by Eric Passero, Tom Little, Laurie Iffland, Miriam Moscovici, Sharon Bernds, Rich Gold, Jeremi Jablonski and John Quinn. This RC team has been doing this regatta for many years and its always great fun for the competitiors and RC alike.
One of the competitors commented that the regatta and RC work were as good as they have seen anywhere. The dinner was sold out, the House band rocked for the party, the food was plentiful and grins were all over the point during a picture perfect weekend of sailboat racing at its best.
Final results are available in the regatta section of the CPYC website or by clicking here.
